What is Green Glass Jobs?

Green Glass Jobs is a niche, transparent jobs board.

What makes Green Glass Jobs so niche?

Green Glass Jobs is only for:

  • Companies with 4+ stars on employee-review site Glassdoor and at least 10 reviews ⭐️
  • Jobs that:
  • Help people (e.g. refugee assistance, legal aid)
  • Expand knowledge (e.g. research, teaching)
  • Support the planet (e.g. conservation, renewable energy)
  • Job listings written in English (the job itself doesn't have to be)
  • Job listings that show the salary 💰 (no unpaid internships or volunteer positions)

Why makes Green Glass Jobs so transparent?

I post the following information publicly on the Transparency page:

  • All business costs, including taxes 💸
  • All revenue 💰
  • Website visitor statistics 📊
  • Sustainability information on my main source of electricity and my equipment ☘️
  • My cybersecurity measures 🔐
  • Thoughts on Glassdoor and Bluesky 🦋
  • Credit / attributions for the icons I use
  • My social media commitments (e.g. to not use AI)

I also:

  • Require employers to post links to their Glassdoor pages
  • Aim to use open-source (a.k.a. transparent) software wherever possible, including Bitwarden, Bluesky, Plausible, and Proton
  • Require each job listing to show the salary

Why did you start Green Glass Jobs?

I started Green Glass Jobs in March 2025 for six reasons:

  1. Frustration with how existing job listings often don't show the salary 💰
  2. Frustration with existing job board features and filters – I found it difficult to find a jobs board with impact-focused jobs that also showed the salary, for example 📋
  3. Empathy for people in general ❤️
  4. Compassion for other jobseekers 👨🏼‍🏭
  5. The urgent problem of climate change 🔥
  6. Multiple experiences of working at exploitative employers, where I have experienced:
  • Managers assigning me a max of 25 hours a week, which meant I didn't receive benefits and barely scraped by
  • A colleague working 40 hours a week but only earning about 50% of what he would need to live alone in his city
  • A boss regularly, publicly, and condescendingly criticizing my colleagues
  • Repeated sexual harassment that made going to work anxiety-inducing
  • Conditions that inspired me to cry while driving to work
  • A boss asking me to exaggerate to clients
  • Pressure to work unpaid overtime
  • The constant threat of firing
  • A non-compete agreement
  • Lack of necessary training
  • Frequent understaffing
  • Micromanagement
  • Shouting, and
  • Contract terms and working conditions so stressful they gave me sharp chest pain, long-term health issues, and multiple near-misses while driving 🏢

In my own job searches, I've wanted to:

  • Know the salaries before spending time applying 💰
  • Only see job postings written in my main language (English)
  • Work in healthy environments 🫁
  • Work for companies that were directly helping the earth or other people 🌍

But so many job sites focus only on one (or even none) of these benefits above. And the largest job board I know seems to have gotten worse since I started using it in 2013. So I figured there might be demand for a site like this one.

Also, the climate crisis feels like an all-hands-on-deck situation. I want to do my small part.

What should employers know about free job listings?

To ensure we're on the same page in making high-quality job posts, I manually review all free listings before posting them. This process means free listings – if accepted – take 1-3 business days to go live. To get started, go to Pricing.
